Out Of Sorts (Me)

January 17th, 2010

Saw Carrie Fisher’s one woman show the other night. I hated it, it wasn’t the play I expected, it was a stand up…every 5 seconds, a joke. She portends to reveal herself, and did nothing of the sort. In addition, everything-EVERYTHING–was someone else’s fault. And, yet, because, she has a comedian’s timing, abd can write reasonable well (she can), she received–wait for it–a fake false standing ovation. Another fake, false standing ovation. Theater–the joke that’s not funny.

Swimming against the curent, as usual.

Go Jets.

This country is the mess it is because of the Vietnam Vet. Yes, the Homecoming of the Vietnam Vet. Because they didn’t get their “victory parade” (well, they didn’t win), someone decided in their infinite wisdom to feel bad for them and treat them like the conquering heroes that they weren’t. And so, ALL POLITICAL CORRECTNESS COMES FROM THIS ACT. From trophies for ‘participation’ to gay marriage, everything is so so politically correct, so inclusive, so utterly ridiculous. We, as a country, worry about the stupidest things. It is why we are in the mess we are in.

Someone (Frenchman?) wrote, “We as a country could have anything we want, and yet we seem not to want anything at all.”

Amen.
